Dysphagia is the term used to describe difficulties with eating, drinking and swallowing.
Many people who have had a brain injury or a neurological condition such as Cerebral Palsy will experience some difficulty in this area.
At ATtherapy, many of our team of therapists have advanced post-graduate qualifications in Dysphagia Assessment and Management. We are experts in helping people gain the skills they need to manage this issue.
If you have difficulties with eating, drinking and swallowing, we believe working together as a team is essential to ensure you can eat and drink as safely and enjoyably as possible. We are happy to work alongside your Dietician, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and Paediatrician to make sure you have the support you need.
Depending on your needs, we can provide a range of bespoke therapy programmes to develop your skills in eating and drinking such as:
- chewing
- trying new tastes
- sampling new textures
- managing liquids

Teletherapy (or e-therapy) is a newer therapy model that has proven to be beneficial with many clients and has a developing evidence base. Teletherapy allows the therapists to carry out your speech and language therapy sessions through a range of online platforms, tools, chats and resources. These include WhatsApp, Facebook Live, Zoom and others using your phone, tablet or computer.
We can guide you on accessing our online help and schedule your distance teletherapy sessions to make sure you stay on track with your communication journey.
If you have any questions or need support with your assistive technology or communication system as part of your speech and language therapy programme, our remote support can also:
